Hi. I have an eko 40. I have been running this boiler for a year and a half now with relatively no trouble. My problem is I have a good gasification fire going but the system is not heating up. I have 1000 gallon storage that is taking everything from the boiler. Inside the room the stack temp is 220 the same as it has been for a year and a half. The top of the stack is 153 degrees. I come home from work and the system is usually 140 degrees I light a fire and in about 5-6 hours the system...

Can Laminate Sheet Be Cut Precisely?

I've installed a few laminate countertops before, typically cutting the lam with a scoring knife, gluing on, then trimming with a router with lam bit. Now I'm working on a bathroom countertop for my mother-in-law, and she's not satisfied with how the lam edges were glued/trimmed. [I think they're as good as any I've done, and tiny flaws aren't usually seen by folks.] She wants me to cut the laminate for the top to a precise fit, so there's no need to router the edge afterward. I'm very...

New to me Mama Bear?

Hi folks,
I just picked up what I believe is Mama Bear. Just thought I'd post a few pictures and see if if anyone could possibly date it. I believe these are older draft caps. I'm not sure if the spring handle is original. I'm guessing 1977 based on reading on here so far. View attachment 194307 View attachment 194308 View attachment 194309

Somerset Pellets and Pure Heat

Stoppped by Menards here in Kansas City to grab some more. They didn't have 10 bags in the store so they cut me a ticket to get them from the yard. I noticed they had pure heats for 5.99 a bag compared to 3.79 for Somerset pellets. Paid at the register and made my way to the yard. I was instructed where to pick them up at and continued to the mother load. Upon arriving a worker on a fork lift met me there and started loading the Pure heats in my truck. I told him that I paid for the Somerset...

Must-have features in a wood splitter

I have been searching for a used wood splitter. Found a 27-ton Troy-bilt, 6 yrs old, used 3 seasons, has Honda 160cc engine, appears to be in great shape. I can buy it for about half off the new price. Not bad.

Some concerns of mine...

- this splitter appears to have small wheels. The tire spec says 16" x 5", whatever that means. They look small. Will this thing tow behind a truck and not fall apart?

- I watched a video of a guy using the 2017 version of this splitter and the cycle time...

I just seen a new one on Menards sale ad today, the Shelter SF2600. There is no info on it at their website or HY-Cs (the parent company that owns the Firechief/Shelter wood furnace co.) But it is definitely a new model http://www.menards.com/main/heating-cooling/fireplaces-stoves/add-on-furnaces/shelter-sf2600-indoor-wood-furnace-1-500-3-500-sq-ft/p-1461692458747-c-12809.htm?tid=7449745222950322705&bargainStoreId=3258

Yardmax log splitter?

I'm in the market for a new hydraulic log splitter this spring. While doing research online I've come across the yardmax brand of splitters which have some appealing features and prices. Other than information on their site and a couple retail sites I can't find much for reviews. Does anyone have any experience with them? There isn't a brick and mortar store anywhere close to here so I would have to have them ship one to me. Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Matt

My Englander wont start. Combustion fan wont spin. I took it out and powered it on the bench and it works fine. Looks like the voltage comes straight out of the control box. I have 125V at the blower but I dont think its got enough power to turn the blower. I bypassed the vac switch to keep it running while troubleshooting. The vac switch and line is fine. Help Help.

Lesson Learned followed by a hypothetical question...

My lesson was not keeping a high enough stock of pellets this week at home. During the night I ran out and had to depend on my gas furnace, an 80 percent Goodman Furnace forced air system. It must be the worst Ive ever had to endure as it seems to blow only cold air during the cycle and on the cool down its freezing cold. Ive tried everything I can do to remedy this to no avail. I had to be 24 hours until I went to get pellets the entire time was miserable even though the temp was an actual...

I know there are selling scams but here's my situation..

I picked up a wood stove insert fairly cheap. I had intentions of installing in a garage/woodshop as a stand-alone stove. I spoke with my building inspector and he gave me the safe practices of doing so... Elevate the stove 24" off the floor, keep combustibles more than 20' away.... This was going to be a temporary install until I get a waste oil heater (maybe next season). But, after speaking with my insurance company, they said they...

3 inch or 4 inch vent pipe for a Harman P35I insert

I was talking to the local Harman dealer about the P35I insert. We were discussing the size of the vent pipe. They only order inserts with the four inch pipe outlet. I told him I had a Whitfield Quest insert ( about 30,000 btu output and parts NLA to repair it ) that worked just fine with three inch vent pipe about 15 feet of stainless flex pipe attached to a five foot piece of Duravent pipe attached to a bracket to help hold the flex pipe. No outside air intake. The chimney is capped were...

Warning for Lopi AGP Pellet stove's

Hi everyone. I just signed up to this forum. I have been reading it for the past few days and wanted to give my opinion on my LOPI AGP stove.

First I have to say that I have been burning wood for over 10 years. I have a LOPI Answer stove that is used as an insert. The build quality is great and all I have every had to replace are crack bricks and the door gasket. That being said. The LOPI AGP stove is just as beautiful as my ANSWER. I love the look of the bay door and the ash...

Rebuilt the Defiant.

While in the middle of major home renovations I noticed the old Vermont Casting Defiant developed a crack in the fireback. I haulted work on the house and focused on the stove.

In the process of replacing the fireback I ended up breaking the whole thing down, cleaning it all up, putting it back together with the Rutland high temp cement (in the right spots) and finishing it off with a coat of Rutland stove polish.

The gaskets on the front doors were still in great shape. The side door...

I do not use a thermostat, I just have an on off switch in its place. Earlier today when I left I flipped the switch off, and I noticed it sounded like a fan or something was running that normally isn't. The stove had just run out of pellets so it was shutting down anyway. I definitely noticed something sounded different, but I didn't think much of it. When I got home I filled the hopper, flipped the switch on and I get nothing. No noise, no red call light, just nothing. I'm not even sure...

Hungry Hearthstone

Hi I recently installed a used hearthstone homestead that seems to be consuming wood faster than it should. I have a feeling the gaskets may need replacing. I have noticed when the bottom is full of ash I get decent burn times but like tonight after I shoveled it out and cleared the grate the fire roared and burned right through a full load in no time. Any thoughts?
